Companies House 1st October 2009 Changes

As you may have heard, Companies House are replacing the 1996 finance act with the 2006 act, this means there are a few changes coming through for owners of limited companies.

For a full review of all changes please click here. For those that would like a very brief summary of the major changes that are likely to affect contractors, freelancers, consultants and interim managers who work through their own limited company, please see below:

1. Introduction of service office addresses

As of 1st October people will be able to have a ‘service address’ and a ‘residential address’. Only the service address will be displayed at companies house for public viewing, the residential address will be hidden.

This means if anybody makes use of the registered office facility at SJD their residential address won’t be viewed. If they don’t use a registered office then their residential office will be used for both serviced and residential.

2. One month less to file accounts

It used to be ten months it is now nine.

Forming a limited company only costs £125 plus VAT on our website, which is one of the lowest fully inclusive prices available. You can of course find cheaper prices on the internet but they rarely include everything you need, such as VAT and PAYE registration, each of which can cost as much as £75 plus VAT from other accountants. Plus, cheap online formations often don’t provide any telephone support, so if you do get stuck who is going to help you?
