Tony Howell  
Tony Howell - National Operation Manager
Tony joined SJD in July 2016 as our Southern region area manager, from a senior position in Barclay’s bank. Tony brings with him 29 years of front-line experience within operations and senior management. Having recently been a contractor himself, Tony knows first-hand the stresses and demands clients can face. Tony and his team are focused on advising and supporting clients whatever the situation. Tony holds the position of National Operation Manager for SJD supported by his team of Senior Team Managers and Team Managers across the UK


Robert Carroll  

Robert Carroll –  Senior Team Manager (Birmingham)

Rob joined SJD in 2012, having spent nearly 10 years prior to this at a local accountancy practice where he gained experience across a wide range of industries and business types. Rob's skills along with his strong knowledge of the contractor market is evident in his career progression with SJD. Rob and his team are fully focused on client satisfaction and are dedicated to ensuring all client needs are met.


Chris Armorgie  

Chris Armorgie – Senior Team Manager (South)

Prior to joining SJD in 2012 Chris studied Accountancy and Finance to post-graduate level and has since gained his AAT qualification. Having been in the business a while Chris has extensive experience within the contracting sector. Due to his hard work and dedication he has quickly progressed and now heads up an enthusiastic and proactive team. When not in the office, Chris is a keen sportsman, he captains and manages a local Sunday league team.


Chris Pennycook  

Chris Pennycook – Team Manager (Central)

After completing a degree in History Chris took the natural next step and joined an accountancy firm. Starting at SJD Accountancy in 2014 as a support, Chris gained his ATT qualification in 2016 whilst working up through the roles, becoming a Team Manager in February 2018. Chris’s main focus is building strong client relationships and providing comprehensive tax planning. Outside of work Chris enjoys sports, animals, music and catching up with the latest films.


Samantha Laverick  

Samantha Laverick – Team Manager (Newcastle)

Samantha joined SJD back in 2005 in the Newcastle office and has worked her way through several roles over the years gaining a wealth of experience. This has allowed Samantha to gain a significant understanding of our clients’ needs, whilst also providing her with extensive skills to draw on in her current role. Samantha and her team are passionate and always strive to provide the very best levels of customer service.



Mark Whitehead  

Mark Whitehead – Team Manager (Manchester)

Mark joined SJD in December 2012 as an Accountant, before stepping up to Team Manager heading up the office in Manchester. Mark is AAT qualified and has 10 years accountancy experience behind him, believing that client satisfaction is of the utmost importance. He is also an avid traveller and always tries to visit somewhere new – he certainly makes the most of his holidays!


Helen O'Connell  

Helen O’Connell – Team Manager (London)

Helen is an AAT qualified accountant and has been working at SJD since 2012. She began in a support role and worked her way up to a team manager. Previously she worked in customer service and has valuable experience dealing with clients on a day to day basis ensuring she and her team give the best customer satisfaction. Over the years at SJD Helen has gained strong knowledge of the contractor market and our clients’ accounting needs.


John Migan  

John Migan – National Performance Manager

John joined SJD in October 2018 filling this new role for SJD of National Performance Manager. John has a wealth of experience in senior management, having been a director of a national Telecoms company, owning his own Media company and working within the Digital Marketing and Finance sectors. John is based in our Hemel Hempstead office but also visits the SJD Accountancy offices throughout the UK on a monthly cycle. John works closely with the full management team, looking at performance levels throughout and ensuring our SJD customer promise is met.


John Migan  

Samantha Reading – Senior Team Manager

Samantha joined SJD in January 2018, having spent nearly 6 years prior to this at other contractor focussed accountancy firms. Samantha is ACCA qualified and has a strong understanding of the contractor market which allows her to work closely with her team to meet client’s needs.


Claire Scoular  

Claire Scoular – Team Manager

Claire started working as an accounts assistant with SJD in 2012 after completing an accountancy and finance degree. Since starting with the company she has moved up through a variety of roles to the team manager of the Edinburgh office. Throughout this time Claire has gained a wealth of knowledge of the contractor industry and is working with the team in Edinburgh to provide great customer service to all clients in order to meet and exceed their expectations. Claire hopes she will continue to develop her passionate team as well as growing the Edinburgh office. Whilst not in the office Claire enjoys attending a variety of music gigs and a city break or two. 


As a group we also have a wide range of other staff ranging from qualified and part qualified accountants, ex Inland Revenue staff and management consultants. Our breadth of experience coupled with our branch and satellite offices throughout the UK enables us to provide an unparalleled level of personal service and support to all our clients, backed up by our customer promise.
