According to the latest research, the answer is undoubtedly yes! Professionals who work in IT and Computing are the most sought-after candidates on the books of UK recruiters, according to research by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation. In line with evidence indicating that client confidence and workloads have grown, the REC said the number of IT roles on a contract basis saw a marked increase, and found that IT workers are more likely than seven other types of professional to be recruited.
The group’s report on IT openings represents the third consecutive month of growth in the UK’s computer jobs market. It also found that pay for contractors rose at a pace that was the sharpest since June 2008, and that workers skilled in Share Point, Analysis and Software Sales are the most difficult techies to source. Kevin Green, chief executive of REC commented:
“Appointments increasing at the fastest pace for over 12 years is the clearest sign yet of a revival in the UK jobs market. A rise in both temporary and contract work at the sharpest rate for nearly three years shows how they continue to provide vital flexibility for UK businesses as well as a valuable route back into work for job-seekers.”
