Major IT contractor clients expect budgets to rise

According to a report from IT management consultant Xantus titled “Supporting Business: The CIO Challenge”, 70% of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in major client companies with sales between £250m and £1bn expect IT budgets to increase over the next 12 months. And more than half of these expect an increase in excess of 10%. What is particularly welcome news for IT contractors is that only 48% of the CIOs believe their departments are prepared for growth, which of course presents the possibility of a raft of new IT contracts.

The Xantus CIO Panel included Rob Fraser, IT Director of Sainsbury’s; David Lister, Group CIO of National Grid; Peter Federico, Group IT Director of British Midland International (bmi); Pete Stafford, Technology Services Director of Nationwide Building Society and Mike Bell, CIO of Kingfisher.
