According to a recent report by Grant Thornton, the UK’s double-dip recession may soon be over thanks to the increased business confidence in the IT and technology sector.
The latest figures released by UK Business Confidence Monitor (BCM), will come as yet more great news for IT contractors. After what has been a tough couple of years for the IT industry, it seems that there has been a steady release of positive news over the past few months.
Many businesses are in desperate need of skilled IT professionals due to the pace of technology advancements and, what with the recent findings from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) revealing that freelancers are currently in higher demand than permanent employees; it has never been a better time for an IT contractor.
The survey found that confidence in IT dramatically increased by 4.7 points during Q1 2012, which resulted in a score of plus 26.5, which is the highest rating for over a year.
Wendy Hart, Head of Technology at Grant Thornton, said, “Shifting business models which look to drive cost savings for customers in the long term, but lead to spend in the short term are driving investment in technology.
“Examples of this include moving to a cloud based service, software as a service and infrastructure as a service. At the same time, businesses supplying the consumer market are seeing consistently high appetites for new technology, devices and applications which in turn drives sales.”
