According to the Ashdown Group Jobs Index, there were 2.97 per cent more computing and technology jobs advertised in May 2010 compared to the previous month. Although a small increase, the figures show a positive upturn and are being well received by contractors.

John Lynes, director of the Ashdown Group, said the IT recruitment market remained strong – having expanded by 12 per cent during 2010. He commented, “Government spending cuts and a public sector recruitment freeze will have an effect on the IT job market, but we foresee any surfeit of skills from the public sector being consumed by the private sector, especially for ‘in demand’ development skill sets.”
