Based on the most recent information published by the Ashdown Group Jobs Index, ‘placement availability’ for IT professionals increased by a fraction over 5% in September.
At a time when the UK contracting market appears to be strengthening, John Lynes, director of specialist recruiter the Ashdown Group, commented, “Market share and business adoption of PHP software is growing and with it the demand for staff is increasing. This is putting upward pressure on salaries and will likely strengthen the contract market for these skills.” He also noted that the leap in demand for IT staff had maintained the upward trend which has been witnessed over the last few months, and added that web-based application development skills were in greatest demand, followed by Java, ASP.Net and C# expertise.
This latest data echoes the findings of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and e-skills UK, both of which reported a rise in demand for IT professionals in the UK. earlier in October.
