In a recent report, Head of Recruitment for the Organising Committee Paul Modley told the Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s (REC) Technology sector group that IT will be at the heart of all activities and will play a central part in the delivery of the London 2012 Olympic Games -given the immense scale of the project. Explaining further, he added that “Not only will technology be needed to link up people and site locations during the Games and beforehand, but the sporting events will be broadcast to a global audience of around four billion people”.
Jeff Brooks, chair of REC Technology, commented that it was great to see how London 2012 is ‘thinking ahead’ to manage the challenges the Games will bring. With some Olympic contracts still up for grabs two years before the Games commence, UK IT contractors are still very much in the frame when it comes to securing contracts for work on London 2012 projects.
