According to the most recent Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) report, the number of employers saying that they plan hire more staff has increased.

The latest JobsOutlook report carried out by the REC, has found that there are more employers looking to hire contractors over the next three to 12 months.

Of the 600 employers surveyed across the UK – taken from a range of different organisations within the pubic, private and non-profit sectors – 41% said that they plan to increase their use of contractors and temps in the next three months, which is a 2% increase compared to last month’s findings.

With regards to the hiring intentions of employers over the next four to 12 months, 36% said that they look to take on more contractors and temps, which is no change from last month’s figures.

REC chief executive Kevin Green, said, “Our data predicts jobs growth will return.

“While the current economic situation is still challenging for many businesses there are also some positive signs.

“Although the recovery has been gradual, the UK has avoided the very high levels of unemployment seen elsewhere on the continent and employer confidence does seem to be on the rise.”
